Your Favourite Cover Version of a Song

What’s yours?…..

My favourite radio station bar none is www.planetrock.com, for anyone who likes rock music there isn’t a finer station to listen to. FACT!! Great music, guest DJ’s of legendary rock status all make for a brilliant show.
They recently held a poll inviting listeners to vote for their favourite cover version of all time, here’s their top twenty:

1. All Along The Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix
2. With A Little Help From My Friends - Joe Cocker
3. You Really Got Me - Van Halen
4. Live And Let Die - Guns N’ Roses
5. Whiskey in the Jar - Metallica
6. While My Guitar Gently Weeps - Peter Frampton
7. Word Up - Gun
8. Blinded by the Light - Manfred Mann
9. House of the Rising Sun - Frijid Pink
10. Rockin’ All Over The World - Status Quo
11. Rosalie - Thin Lizzy
12. She’s Not There - Santana
13. America - Yes
14. Tea For One - Joe Bonamassa
15. Knockin On Heavens Door - Guns N Roses
16. Turn The Page - Metallica
17. Delilah - Sensational Alex Harvey Band
18. Gimme Shelter - Thunder
19. Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley
20. Roadhouse Blues - Status Quo

I’ve got to agree with the number one, it’s just a perfect song. Number eleven and fourteen are up there too. What’s yours?
Here’s Jimi….

    Good list

Police on my back - the Clash

Little Wing - Stevie Ray Vaughn

Was working on learning Hendrix’s version when I heard Stevie Ray play it. Almost put the guitar away for good.
