Will Canon upgrade the EOS 5D?
A new improved Canon EOS 5D DSLR in the pipeline?
There are rumours in the photography world that Canon are working on a new version of their ground breaking EOS 5D digital SLR camera.
I own a 5D and it’s an incredible camera, an entry level pro series DSLR it managed to fill the gap between very good medium range DSLR’s and the best of the professional models at a fairly reasonable price.
Canon are now being given a run for their money, particularly by Nikon and after their success at the lower intermediate level with the 400, 450 ad 40D models it seems an upgrade on the 5D is imminent. It’s a difficult camera to upgrade, if they add live view, the integrated cleaning system and a larger LCD screen then you’re getting very close to the 1D series. Indeed there are a number of professional photographers who use the 5D as their main camera and many more who use it as their second camera behind the 1D series.
How far they go with this and at what price range they target will be interesting to see. Canon are very good at giving that bit extra on the one hand whilst gently restraining with the other, hence the amount of camera bodies on offer. Watch this space.

Miles,
I wanted to comment on your new Photography section but did not get a Comments section underneath to do so.
Some spanner in the works somewhere.
Anyway, a great new addition to your sites. I shall view them on a regular basis and enjoy the stories they tell on their own.

Miles,
I would echo the sentiments of Elsie …. but also urge caution, wasn’t it your brother who was constantly asked for photographs of himself in the shower
thank goodness your loyal following knows an artist when we see one and appreciates the quality on offer here.
