Typing
It’s bloody annoying….
Just a quick rant, why is it that whenever I type the ‘L’ and/or ‘V’ key it never seems to register and I have to constantly re-type the word, i.e Mies. It is so annoying, as is leaving my finger on the caps lock after typing the first letter, i.e MIles.
Whilst I’m on it, this is, in the main, a food blog. My entire training as a professional chef was based on classic French cuisine. If I want to write about a French, or German dish for that matter I end up typing an apology for not typing a word properly because Wordpress doesn’t allow for accents and if it does then where the hell is it?
Lastly, thanks to anyone reading this who sends me a hundred spam mails a day on insurance and viagra, I don’t require either of them thankyou.
If you have any pc annoyances then feel free to share them here…

I wish I’d learned t type properly now.
I type really quite fast but have developed ‘my own style’ as it were.
I tried to change and learn ‘properly’ last year but it was a nightmare !
This version of wordpress is a pain as it inteferes too much !

Rod,
It is quite possible that there are the remains of a sandwich lodged under the ‘V’ key-just a thought

Miles,
Having earned my qualifications in typing the old way, I am happy to offer private lessons on my manual typewriter. I suspect you know that you use the Shift key for a capital letter and not the Caps Lock and just got in the habit of it? That one is free and more may be swapped against a fine meal

Hey Miles,
I’ve just been reading over some of your posts that I missed.
I haven’t got a clue what’s happening with your L and V keys, but with regards to accents on characters I can guarantee that Wordpress support what’s known as Alt Codes.
Whether you’re writing a post in Wordpress or typing a letter in Word, if you hold down your alt key, type in 0224 on your keypad, then let go of the alt key, you’ll get a lovely… à.
I highlighted keypad because these codes don’t work with the row of numbers over your letters, so if you blog on a laptop you’ll have to use your num lock and use the keypad set into the letters on the keyboard.
Just do it very deliberately: hold down alt, type your alt code, let go of alt.
Voilà!

All the alt codes you’ll need.
