The Week in Pictures
Snow comes to England….
Here’s a pictorial tale of snow, snow and more snow. Here in the UK we all go hysterical at the drop of a snowflake. You’d think we were in Bombay and had never seen snow before. Anyway, in true adventure style I decided to not try and drive my rear wheel drive car and ventured out on foot instead. I took a long walk in the freezing cold all around the edge of my village, along snow covered fields, over babbling brook and through shaded woods. It was like rediscovering an old friend as this is where I used to go on long summer walks when I first moved here….

Across the Fields
There is a small wooded area which lines the path to the fields, the trees looked beautiful in the snow and the light was perfect….

Snow Covered Logs
My garden bore the brunt of the snowfall, the resident birdlife has gone to ground and all is still…..

From My Garden
Into the afternoon and the light began to change as I wandered through the wood, this is a place I must return to in the spring and summer, early evenings, as I recall was the perfect time for a stroll….

Lincolnshire Woodland Walk

Excellent stuff - very festive feel as well.
I always feel a little sad when I see logs of that size - I wonder how old that tree was and what it’s seen

Hi Miles:
Lovely work - something a simple as a garden holly to showcase the Christmas season. . . You live in a beautiful area!
We’ve been buried in 22 inches of snow here in the Central Atlantic of the US, we are still digging out with so many workplaces and schools closed - its extra time off to enjoy the holidays.
Merry Christmas to you and yours,
Laura

Rod,
Know what you mean, I’ve seen quite a bit of it recently, particularly by the Forestry Commision, I trust they know what they are doing.

Laura,
Many thanks for your kind words. Twenty two inches? this is what I mean, we get two inches and it’s armegeddon. Unbelievable.
Good luck commuting in that lot!

These photos are beautiful (as always). I love each one for a different reason, but the red berries with the green and white are so perfect for the season. Brilliant, Miles!
Melissa
P.S. It doesn’t really count until you hit 12 inches of the white stuff.

Melissa,
Thank you, nice to hear from you again. I always think about you and the other guys from America when I write about the snow, it’s embarrasing
