The Week in Pictures
A snapshot in the life of….me.
I’ve been pleasantly suprised at the popularity of this recent addition to the blog so without further ‘to do’s’ here’s a few random shots of my life since the last time you had ‘a nosey’…
My attempt at a Bob Carlos Clarke type photo from when he recorded life inside Marco Pierre White’s infamous Harvey’s restaurant. The pictures were captured in black and white and had that distinct late eighties/early nineties feel about them, I wanted to show this as an ‘old photograph’, slightly out of focus and grainy so I used the chef as the background whilst focusing in on an object between the two of us. I used a wide angle lens for a different feel to a standard portrait lens such as a 50mm. This is one of my French chef’s who always looks the part in monochrome…..

Chef in Service
A snapshot at the pass as the service staff wait for me to finish ‘dressing’ the plates…..

Waiter at the Pass
A really beautiful old English church with a doorway errected in Anglo Saxon days, I came here with my brother and the more I think about it the more incredible it seems. How this has lasted so long is incredible, how this is taken so much for granted even more so. THIS IS REAL HISTORY…try and imagine how many people from so many generations and backgrounds have visited this place, go on…really think about it for a few minutes…..

St. Peter’s Church Barton upon Humber
I’ve blogged about this place before, I stopped by again to see how it looked in late autumn. Still beautiful….

Lakeland Farm Shed
The first sprouts of the season, we shall cook some two thousand portions of these in the four weeks of December….I’m dreading it!

Boiled Sprouts

Right . . .
This is the best one yet - I love the Chef at Service one it’s obviously a great picture but best of all I think you managed to achieve exactly what you wanted.
The Farm Shed too is wonderful - difficult to make landscapes work at this size
Well Played Sir !

Miles,
.
A great mix of photos. I love the way they tell their own story.
Your black/white one is very effective. Not only your church but also the Lakeland farm shed make one think about people who have been there.
I don’t envy you the sprouts

Anne,
Thanks, the sprout picture shows my career has come full circle. I started by cooking tons of the things as a boy and now I’m photographing them. Either way I can’t get rid of them!!!

I’m glad I didn’t miss this. I love the black and white photo, great “feeling” to it. Nice follow-up with the splash of red. These are so nice, Miles. The sky in the farm shed photo is brilliant. This is a great way to end my Thanksgiving day. Tired, full and enjoying your photo/blog journey!
On to the next one.
