The Week in Pictures
Photographs from a kitchen service….
It’s been a week to forget, instead of going on about it I’ll show you some pictures instead. Every picture tells a story….

The end…..Enjoy your weekend, spare a thought for those who really won’t.

The fella at the end looks like he’s earned his money !
These could be some of the best pictures you’ve taken !
Enjoy your weekend the weather’s lovely

Miles,
The last shot captures how a lot of us are feeling of late…. and sometimes all the time
As my young ‘un finished work experience week and reported back … ‘ it’s boring and I was stood for hours working on a tedious project’ ….. welcome to the wonderful world of work said I, now take a good look at school life and appreciate the last few years of it!
This week I’ve spent some time on steps spring cleaning shelves in 30 degrees plus while being ‘front of house’ smiling nicely for the customers. Kitchen work must be scorching most of the time. In my opinion everyone should do national service and I’d start there, a year in a professional kitchen instead of a gap year. Now all this leads me on to my latest fascination…. coconut water, apparently it re-hydrates the body better than some manufactured beverages for sports. I love it and always have. What I didn’t know was that you can buy it in large quantities on-line and organic too if you prefer. …. And that leads me on to being out this week facing yet another counter full of the dreaded J2O fruit juices…. no elderflower, nothing in fact that appealed to me. There must be a reason for this and presumably it boils down to profit and best before dates, however should I ever be in charge of serving soft drinks in my own establishment I will endeavour to be inventive (remind me of that Miles as I bung a bottle of non descript apple juice in front of you
)

Keep up the good work hombre - life’s not a picnic here either . . .
It was boiling hot this morning when I was sat in a field photographing sparrowhawks and this afternoon I had no time to rest either as I had to look at civil war spearheads.
There’s no end to it

Rod,
I was worried how you’d cope, let me know if there’s anything you need. Don’t sit on a spearhead

Boiling?
Saw a show on the Orient Express - kitchen temps run up to 45C
Meanwhile, the out-of-doors is approaching that here: It was 107F on the virginia beltway yesterday!
Great photos Miles. Love the 3rd one - but would crop the right side a bit to make the viewer question what they were looking at a bit more. Also love the last weary one. . .

Laura,
It’s pretty hot, has to be said…45C on the sauce section which isn’t easy. Glad you like the photos, I didn’t crop the 3rd because I wanted to show the interplay between front and back of house and how they stand and wait for the plates to be dressed.
Good luck with the weather!
