The Railway Clock

iPhone diary gets a time check..

The old railway clock, a fine sight in any station. The reason this photo is on here is because it’s been taken in a way I shall be doing more of in the New Year. I find straight on ‘picture postcard’ shots quite dull and am always looking for an alternate angle. What struck me is that this clock is a feature of the town but look behind the main view and you see a less glamorous sight.

For me this sums up the area, on the one hand you have a piece of period history worthy of preserving and yet, right next to it an example of how we have gone backwards in so many ways..

A beautiful clock, Miles, looks like late Victorian to me.

But I see what you mean about the vicinity. A beautifully structured arched window; ( look at the precision of the bend of that arched brickwork . Masterclass craftsmanship ! ) but then the rest is frankly an insult to those period pieces.

A relic from a time when ‘’planning permission'’ meant very little.

There’s much in the alternative angle and view I think. Nowadays most things have been photographed to death so what use is another image . . . unless it brings another perspective usually ignored !?
    Looking forward to more

    V,
Think you’re right on the age, absolutely agree with the last part. It is evident everywhere though.
