The Queen’s Birthday Honours!
Recognition from the Royalty….
This is an unexpected post, I was going to treat you to a ditty on artichokes but you’ll just have to wait another day. ‘Oh, the agony’ I hear you cry!
Well I have been given a blog award which has been bestowed upon me by the lady I consider to be the Queen of blog writing, Karen Coates at Ramblingspoon.
Karen has kindly given me the ‘El premio arte y pico’ award which is given by fellow bloggers to those sites considered worthy enough through ‘creativity, interesting material, design and contribution to the blogger community’ Well considering I don’t qualify for any of those I can only presume Karen was drunk when she nominated me.
All joking aside, I am delighted that Karen has thought of me for this because she does something I always wanted to do; write professionally about food and travel. For anyone who hasn’t visited Karen’s site I suggest you add it to your favourites immediately, you won’t regret it-professional writing and photography for free. A bargain. At Ramblingspoon you can read about the food, people and politics which have shaped South East Asia and the Indian Subcontinent. Many of the posts are thought provoking, many others simply mouth watering.
I shall post my awards in due course to maintain the tradition of ‘arte y pico’. For more information on the award visit Karen’s blog, I’m off to write my acceptance speech, I’ve got a bag of onions in case the tears don’t flow a la Halle Berry
Thanks Karen, enjoy your day, have some cake…..

Congratulations Miles and great result expecially coming from such a superb site !
Regards
Rod

Miles,
You have created something worth celebrating so I’m not surprised. This is such a fabulous blog, a daily delight and I agree with Rod, what an honour coming from Karen and her excellent site.

p.s. your croc en bouche is much larger than mine….. wait a minute, I feel another post coming on….

Miles—too much! The Queen? I dare say Jerry would find that downright funny. Or scary. Probably both.
Personally, I think it’s scary you somehow knew it was my birthday! I didn’t know the word was out. I also haven’t finished my coffee yet, so I’m a little bleary-eyed.
But thank you, truly! Now, do tell me about that cake. And the artichokes! I like artichokes.
Cheers,
Karen

Karen,
Don’t worry, I’m not a stalker! I received a prompt about your birthday from a certain social networking site we belong to!
Okay so maybe I didn’t make that cake for your birthday but it’s the closest I could get-it involved the ‘borrowing’ of a police warning sign but that’s another story!
As for the artichokes-you’ll just have to wait!
