The Old New Orleans Club in Louth

iPhone diary hears the distant sound of jazz…

I took this photograph of what I believe was the old New Orleans Jazz Club in Louth, Lincolnshire the other day, not knowing its current location. What it is though is one of the very few not for profit organisations left and an organisation which has spent the last forty years promoting the sound of New Orleans jazz to a grateful audience.

Still going strong to this day it has and continues to host some great local and national musicians and fair play to them. At first glance it would suggest I’m not doing them any favours using this photograph, they moved twenty nine years ago I believe. But think on, imagine the history in that building and the wonderful nights there must have been in there. Walking past it must have been great to hear the sound of jazz and the general buzz from those who were inside.

Golden memories I am sure.

I love jazz and hearing it in this building would have been a very special evening out.

The building itself appeals to me. The symmetry is remarkably preserved. So often windows have changed over the years. But the double brick archways over the windows suggest that this building is still as it was when it was built. The door has changed of course; but ah well ………

    V,
Same here, would have loved to have stopped by. The building is wonderful isn’t it?
