A New ‘Pink Floyd’ Fender Stratocaster for 2008
To coincide with the September release of Pink Floyd guitarist Dave Gilmour’s new solo album ‘Live in Gdansk’, legendary US guitar maker, Fender are issuing a signature Stratocaster modelled on his famous black strat which he has used ever since his earliest days in Pink Floyd.
There shall be two models avaliable for purchase, the ‘Relic’ and the ‘New Old Stock’.
The ‘Relic’ model will be a replica of Gilmour’s guitar in its current state, i.e worn paint, lack of backplate, signs of wear from heavy touring and parts from older models.
The ‘New Old Stock’ model will replicate the above model but will use new parts, a white backplate and proper paint finish. This will retail at a lower price than the ‘Relic’ model which is designed for Pink Floyd fans and David Gilmour wanabees.
Gilmour bought this particular guitar at the world famous American guitar shop, ‘Manny’s’ who have sold many a guitar to famous rock guitarists. Gilmour seems delighted with the replica which is reason enough to go out and buy one.
I would give you the link to the Fender website for more information but I seem to have beaten them to it
