Wow! I have a special order leg of lamb coming in tomorrow and had it all planned out. I must rethink it now - well done!

Cid,
Phew! If you win then I am going to have my work cut out, doesn't anyone just want an omelette and be done with it?!

Miles,

I'm now wondering if I could have a condensed milk fountain along with all the rest? :)

If I make it through the night I'd like pork and apples, vegetable tempura and trays of the finest cheeses, bunches of rambutans and the last bottle of Bolinger I hid behind the fig tree :)

Cid,
Like it! Indian lamb and seafood risotto is right up my street, as for the last one I'd have to throw DC overboard first!

Miles,

It's my last supper and I'm ready for a feast with all my loved ones and friends preferably here at home the garden lit up like Christmas, warm still air.... so think on a fairly grand scale here...

Gin based fruity cocktails

White summer seafood risotto with extra lobster and the tastiest prawns etc served with asparagus cooked until golden in a little olive oil and butter.

Leg of lamb marinaded in Indian spices and saffron, slowly cooked and very tender with a gravy made from the meat juices and yoghurt, served with sweet/sour Indian pickles.

For dessert, a huge croquembouche, an almond tart made with chocolate stuffed prunes served warm, fresh raspberries and a rose scented cream

... all washed down with bottles of Bolinger

For guests still hanging in there, smooth coffee and hand made exquisite chocolates and honey glazed pistachio baklava.

I must say this took a great deal of soul searching and even now I could add to it taking the best from French and Oriental cuisine, some I've had but couldn't possibly tell you what was in it or how it was prepared. My most memorable meal was in Japan in beautiful surroundings, the food served in tiny lacquered dishes was weird and wonderful. I certainly couldn't recreate it and perhaps it will remain special to me for that reason.... the bit that follows however, took no thinking about at all....

Cid

p.s. my penultimate supper, a crusty sour dough bread with creamy butter and a large tin of condensed milk.... Daniel Craig and a yacht moored somewhere off St Tropez :)

Ipswitch clams - steamed open and served with clarified butter and their liquor. Ice cold beer.

Maine lobster roll. Slightly chilled New Zealand sauvignon blanc.

Grilled lamb chops marinated in garlic, olive oil, and fresh rosemary. Pan seared grape tomatoes and scallions. Horseradish mashed potatoes. 1990 Gaja Barbaresco.

Grapefruit sorbet, with vodka macerated grapefruit sections.

1977 Fonseca port.

Late August.
Enjoyed with my friends on an outdoor deck overlooking the Atlantic on Long Beach Island NJ, saying goodbye to another glorious summer.
