The Highest Earning Musical Performers in the World
Forbes top ten highest earning musicians for the last year…
Bit of an ‘off-topic’ post I know but I found it quite interesting and as this blog attracts more visitors from the US than anywhere else combined I thought they could help me out by telling me who some of them are!
So here’s the list of the highest earning musicians/rock/pop stars for 2008/2009 according to the Forbes rich list.
1. Madonna $110 million
2. Celine Dion $100 million
3. Beyonce $87 million
4. Bruce Springsteen $70 million
5. Kenny Chesney $65 million
Joint 6th on $ 60 million:
AC/DC
Coldplay
Rascal Flatts
7. Toby Keith $52 million
8. Bon Jovi $50 million
Dave Matthews Band $45 million
Ok, there you have it. Now, who the hell is Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith. Rascal Flatts and Dave Matthews? I have no idea.
I presume they are American and that shows just how important the American market is if you want to make ‘proper bucks’ I am suprised Madonna is number one given her recent inactivity but there you go.
What do you reckon? I’ll look for some music to post here now (I’ve not decided yet but it sure as hell won’t be Coldplay unless I have trouble sleeping tonight)
Well, I’ve decided. Here’s the boss, he’s playing at Glastonbury in England this weekend and he’s a genius…

Miles,
Could be just me, but there’s no sound?

Miles,
Scrub that, I can’t seem to get sound out of anything…. not sure this internet thing is geared to work in the depths of the Shire
Daren’t tinker with it either in case I accidentally get into the national security site or nasa
So for the time being could you oblige by giving me the key then ‘la la la, dum di dumming’ in text please?
Corus in bold please…..

Miles,
You’re hitting the country/western circuit with Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts and Toby Keith. It’s funny, it used to be the rock stars that the super models and actresses went after. Now it’s the country western guys. Women like cowboys.
:-)
Dave Matthews is a very commercial US jam band that is popular with high school and college kids. Catchy dance tunes. One of the members died last year in a ATV accident on his farm. They’re from the southern US (I think, now I’m not sure). Virginia or North Carolina. They’ve been around for a long time.
There’s not one performer on this list who would be on my top 10 list. Can’t stand Madonna.

I had Springsteen crammed down my throat all throughout high school. If I never hear him again it would be too soon. As for the rest only ACDC could get me to walk into my living room to see them play. The state of music today blows. At least Angus and Co. remain unchanged.

Dave,
Hear what you’re saying, Springsteen got a hard time at Glastonbury for not playing Born in the USA, boos and cheers!
AC/DC carry on doing the business don’t they?
