The Final Entry

iPhone diary comes to an end..

Well, here it is; the last entry for this diary. One long year in the making it feels quite an achievement to have completed it. During the past twelve months there have been times that I wondered if I would be able to complete it, work commitments, ill health and bad weather have all played their parts in testing my will but I refused to be beaten!

In the beginning I wanted to see if I could find the discipline to take 365 daily images of sufficient interest to warrant a blog post. As the diary went on the parameters widened to encompass social documentary and artistic endeavours which have inspired me for future projects.

As pleased as I am that I managed to write over 365 entries (see retro and food sections) I think the really pleasing thing is the recording of an ordinary life in an extraordinary world and how, I wonder these thoughts and images will look in the years to follow. I would like to thank everyone who has followed my journey and shared their thoughts along the way.

Needless to say I shall be easing up a little now, I hope to share some projects I have in the pipeline with you so more of that in due course.

So, my final image. A plate of fish and chips. There’s a thousand memories within this image. It begins with my childhood and a place I visited with my family and ends with my brother and I going back in our forties. Many of the entries reflect my childhood, family and the times I have spent with my brother in particular. Without him the diary would never have lasted.

It’s been a huge challenge and a great achievment.
The surprise is how you’ve managed to keep up the quality of the images and the posts.

Thanks for all the hard work, ofte at the most inconvenient of times
    All the best

You have kept us royally entertained with your hard work here Miles. It’s been much appreciated.

I am sure it has been difficult at times but whilst I would have said that you have kept the same high standrad all the way through, I think you have started high and have actually ‘’raised the bar'’ pushing through to higher standards all the time. It’s an amazing achievment. I have found myself logging into the business computer and then into your site just to see what a new day brings you!

The picture above is an art work in itself. They do look like PROPER chips to me …i.e. they actually may have some potato in them ! I have been pondering which brotehr ate what on this occasion …….. I would suggest ….Miles /fish and chips and Rod / sausage and chips ?

    Miles,
Congratulations on an amazing achievement. I truly wondered many a day how you managed another photo and write-up. It is not something that I could have done.
This success has a few strands to it in my opinion: a huge commitment, a way to look at things about you that are worthy of capture, the imagination to see and write and the strength and determination to make it happen.
You have not only done it for yourself but you have also been willing to share aspects of a year in your life. I, for one have enjoyed it very much and I wish you well with any of your future prospects.
