The EISA Photography Awards 2010-2011
In association with Amateur Photographer magazine…
Thought I’d share with you the results of the best photographic product awards as featured in Amateur Photographer magazine this week. The Eisa awards stands for the European Image and Sound Association is made up of European photography magazine editors and the annual awards make for interesting reading. Amateur Photographer is one of my favourite magazines and well worth checking out if you see a copy.
So the poll is a mix of the usual likely winners but also contains one or two items which grab the attention. I for one am a fan of these awards because you get an unbiased, cross European opinion on the best available product at that particular time, which in the minefield of photographic purchases can be very welcome indeed…

Best Advanced SLR: Canon EOS 7D
Best Professional SLR: Nikon D3S
Best Micro Camera: Sony NEX-5

So a mixed bag, interesting to see a pretty even split between the big two with Nikon stealing a march at the pro end. That said best overall camera for the 550D is where the money is at so……

Miles,
it’s an interesting list but I wonder if it is only the latest products though ?
I’m especially looking at the lenses !
Good as Sigma and Tamron are I’d question their 17-70 being the ‘Best Lens’ full stop !

Rod,
Yes mate, should have made that clearer. It’s 2010 onwards…think Canon have edged it in terms of business but Nikon have the edge with the cudos of best pro camera and pro lens. I think you can take it as read that Canon have done a better job in the entry to mid range level and it will be interesting to see how Nikon respond. They do not at this moment have anything which competes with the 7D and I reckon that has to be high on their list of priorities, don’t you?

I wonder how many actually compare Canon / Nikon ? I’ve always felt the majority just go with one or the other.
I see quite a few serious photographers when I’m out-and-about but nevre see any Nikon cameras - it’s always Canon
