The Best Picture in the World-Ever

Forget Picasso…..

Just thought I would share this with you all. A letter from my sponsored child’s parents dropped through the letterbox yesterday and with it two pictures. The letter was from May Mi Mi’s mother this time and promises that as soon as her daughter is old enough she will write herself.
It was remarkable in so much that I read a personal, first hand account of the terrible cyclone that hit her small town in Burma/Myanmar and that is so vastly different from a news bulletin viewed from the comfort of an armchair.

She describes the damage done to her property and that of others around her but rather than feel sorry for herself speaks of her gratitude for the foreign aid they have recieved such as blankets, mosquito nets and ‘medicated powder for water purification’.
She is more concerned about my last birthday having been a happy one then her own troubles and the whole letter is utterly selfless.

So here’s a picture she sent me, drawn, in part by her daughter. I just think it’s great. Here’s a quick question; when was the last time you saw anything about the plight of the Burmese people in the Media? Didn’t think so.

    Miles,

It’s a very special picture and you should proudly display it on the wall at home. I think the artist has captured your happy and generous soul….(loved the red romper too :) )

    All,
It really does put my life into a certain perspective and that picture means more than any photograph I could take with all the mod cons.
