Stephen Fry is a Led Zeppelin Fan!

England’s finest intellect shows his class….

Stephen Fry, comic genius, actor, author and academic has revealed his fondness for the Gods of rock, Led Zeppelin. I’m a bit late with this because I’ve just seen a re run of a television programme where he talks about it, but I don’t care. Reason? Well, a. It’s my blog and b. it will annoy my brother, hence the post!

This is a cheap shot at putting some Zeppelin on the blog but at the same time alerting my visitors from overseas to look out for Mr. Fry. He is, quite simply, Englishness personified. Led Zeppelin are indeed English rock personified…here’s a blast….

Love the man and love the music. I would argue though that he is far from “Englishness personified’. He is progressive, enlightened and constantly striving for knowledge. That is anathema to the modern-day Briton! In a land that lionizes cultural mediocrity and lauds intolerance, Fry stands out as a Beacon of hope! As an ex-pat, I can say that it takes detachment and perspective to see what today’s Englishman is: resentful, uneducated, and hopeless.

England had its day, but that day is past. Don’t shackle this great man to a millstone that will sink as surely as did the Titanic!

Welcome to the site and thank you for your comment. I agree with much of what you say and it is indeed difficult to accept much of what has happened to our society in general over the years but I wouldn’t tar every Englishman with the same brush. Having travelled and continue to travel abroad with my work it seems to me that mediocrity and intolerence is far from being an entirely English phenomenon and I am not convinced there is a country or people which is fundamentally better.
I am not saying we are great, far, far from it but I still believe there are plenty in a worse state than us which is why, perhaps Mr Fry has yet to fly the nest!

    Thanks again,
    Kind regards
    Miles
