Sir Bobby Robson

An English Gentleman

Sir Bobby Robson was my favourite football (soccer) manager. For me he was the most talented of them all winning trophies with Ipswich Town, Barcelona, Porto, PSV Eindhoven as well as an incredible manager of England and Newcastle United.

But this isn’t about football or his achievements, it is about a man who won universal respect around the world for the way he conducted himself. He battled cancer five times, during which he carried on with his charity fundraising which culminated in his final public appearence last Sunday when 32,000 Newcastle United fans came to pay their respects to him at a charity football match.
I have been looking at various football websites around the world and it is quite incredible the way his passing has left his mark on the game.

I am not a particularly big fan of football but whenever I saw him interviewed I always looked up to him as the kind of man I would like to be and be remembered for. A gentleman.
