Shell Wildlife Photographer of the Year
A great book for photographer and wildlife enthusiast alike
Every year Shell sponsor the world famous wildlife photography competition in partnership with the British Natural History Museum and the BBC Wildlife Magazine. The aim is to showcase the wonders of the natural world in images captured by professionals and young amateurs alike.
BBC Books produce a wonderful book each year featuring the winners of each category as well as those whose work has been highly commended. The result is a collection of stunning photographs from across the globe. Each picture has a paragraph describing how the photograph came about and for the photographer a description of the camera used, choice of lens, ISO setting etc.
The winner for 2007 was Ben Osbourne from the UK with an incredible picture of an elephant at a waterhole in Chobe National Park, Botswana. The winning shot was taken with a CAnon EOS 1D Mk11N but interestingly (well, for me anyway) his main camera is the Canon EOS 5D so no wonder he won it!

Miles,
Looking at your photos you are getting there yourself. Perhaps runner up for this year - looking forward to seeing more of your captures.
I should keep some of your woods/sites secret, just in case someone beats you to it. You never know who might be lurking in the bushes
