Pre-Dinner Drink Anyone?

Step this way……

Thought you’d all be desperate for an update on one of the hotel projects I’m working on at the moment. Two weeks ago the place looked like something from the set of a Hollywood war epic (with Tom Cruise playing a shorter version of me) AND NOW……

Well, it still does :) Yes, we’re not finished yet, but things are getting better. What you see is the lounge bar with an extention overlooking the river. The steps lead up to what was a bedroom and will now become a second lounge for pre and after dinner drinks….

Guests will arrive here for drinks and olives, choose from the menu and then be taken into the restaurant. Use your imagination!
This will be fantastic throughout the year, we (well, the builders) have knocked a three metre hole in the side of the bulding to make one big window to look out across the river. I’ll photograph the results accordingly.

In the meantime I am busy photographing the food (and my head chef ) for a glossy magazine promoting food and drink in the area as well as for our own marketing. I’ll do some posts on the food as it all comes together.

Busy, busy!!!!

    Miles,

Yes, thank you. I’d love a pre-dinner drink.

I’m meeting Cid and Elsie there soon, so make sure it’s all finished and ready for our red carpet entrance. I’ll have a glass of nice, velvety red wine. I like mine on the cooler side, please. Somewhere in the 50 to 55 degree range (10 to 16 C).

The place looks wonderful — even with all the dust!

P.S. A table by the window would be lovely!

    Miles,
From the view we can see through the scaffolding it’s going to be a sublime place for pre-dinner drinks, overlooking the boats on the river. You’re gonna have a lot of happy punters. ;-)

Good luck with the ongoing projects.

    Melissa,
I’m supposed to be photographing the outside of the hotel today but it’s thick fog, can’t see a thing :(

    Miles,
Despite all the hard work and aggrivations, it must still be a fascinating job to watch it all come together.
Just advise us of the opening date and we will all come to marvel in it and occupy your best window seats, of course :) .

    Miles, and Ladies,
I think I can clear my calendar to meet you in the lounge once it is completed. My preferred drink is Canadian bourban, or a smooth Irish whiskey. Will that be in stock?

Chnecking airline schedules, as I type this. See you soon.

Okay, ladies, where is everyone coming from? Airline tickets? Train rides? Bicycle journeys?

    Besitos,

    Melissa,

I remember once telling Miles, ‘one day the women will flock’ …. alas he probably thought at the time I was referring to a slightly younger generation :) Still, I’m sure he’ll relish our wisdom when it comes to hotel design and quality menus….. looking at those pictures the restaurant could be on a barge in which case we’ll expect to float through France as well, while indulging in a feast of good company and delicious food !!

Should we all wear pink carnations?
