Pictures of the Bhut Jolokia Chilli

New pictures for the gallery

Just to let you know that I’ve been busy photographing this year’s chilli harvest and have set up a new album in the photography section for pictures of chillies including the infamous bhut and bih jolokia. It’s not all about red hot chillies, I’ve thrown some mild ones in for balance!

I have added one or two new photographs here and there and shall revisit the dessert album shortly. That has received a lot of views for some reason (Ladies?!!) so I’ll be adding some new ones soon. In the forthcoming months I shall be taking a closer look at landscape photography and as many of this blog’s readers are from outside the UK (mainly the US) I thought it would be nice to show you England from my eyes. I love to see photographs of American life and landscapes, particularly the incredible scenery which rarely gets shown. If we took the media at their word then America would be skyscrapers and street gangs with no mention of Montana, New England, the Great Plains etc, etc, etc….Likewise there is more to England than Buckingham Palace and red telephone boxes.

Lastly, if you have taken a photograph of a place or object which you feel makes a statement about where you live then I would love to see it, doesn’t have to be where you live, it could be a favourite holiday destination, pub/bar, whatever. It would be great to write a post about your photograph and why you chose it because this is what internet communities should be all about, making our world that bit smaller and closer knit, that bit more likeable even if it only lasts the length of a blog post.
I really don’t hold with over complicating photography, a photograph should provoke a thought process, be it a memory or a reaction, good or bad. It should offer a brief respite from everything else. That’s what I think.

If you have a photograph you wish to share then email me with your photograph and a few words about it to: miles@gourmetfoodsource.net

a great selection of photographs and a fantastic crop !
It’s great to preserve your efforts for the future with the photographs and hopefully they will inspire both photography and a ‘grow your own’ ambition in others.

I think the idea of sending in photos is great and deserves to be supported.

    Rod,
Thanks for that, it did take some considerable effort but I’m glad that I did it.

    Miles,
I’ve just been catching up with your posts - love the chilli photos - but I was wondering if you tasted the chocolate habanero and if so, what you thought of it. Some of the darker chillies seem to me to have a deeper fruity flavor.

    Entangled,
I have tried them and they do have a lot of fruit flavour to them. I am actually really looking forward to using these dried because I think they will give a braised dish some real colour and depth of flavour-and a kick!!
