Picture of the Week

A day to remember….

Blogging has been somewhat hit and miss of late and entirely against my wishes. Time off is something of a pipe dream at the moment so getting out and about is a rare occasion. I did however manage a day’s walking and photography with my brother last week and I cannot remember having a better one since, well, the last one we had.

It was my brother’s turn to take me to one of his haunts and he didn’t disapoint. Nettleton near our birthplace of Grimsby in Lincolnshire is a real haven of tranquility. It is an area steeped in history with earthworks galore and a backdrop you would never associate with the relatively flat areas around Lincolnshire. We were hoping to see the Little Owl my brother had seen and photographed a week or so earlier but sadly to no avail. We did see buzzards, kestrels and most probably a pair of kites which were swooping over the trees and into the gravel pits behind us.

You could easily spend four hours walking this route, we did three and a half in the warm sunshine and I cannot describe how much better I felt for it. So here’s a picture I took just as we were leaving to go to our parents for an amazing supper of homemade quiche, chicken and potato salad. Thanks to my family for reminding me of life outside of a hotel…

    Miles,
Isn’t it great to discover new walks? It is a classical reminder that we do not know half the time what is on our doorstep until it is pointed out to us.
    Here’s to many more ~~~~
