Pictue of a Bhut Jolokia Chilli
What does a ripe bhut jolokia chilli look like?
A couple of years ago I managed to grow the world’s hottest chilli; the bhut jolokia which I wrote several posts about. These have attracted many visitors to the site along with a lot of questions on how to grow them but also when to tell when they are ready to eat.
So for all those chilli growers out there here is a ripe bhut jolokia chilli, a chilli which should carry a government health warning!..

A Ripe Bhut Jolokia Chilli

I’m still eating your dried chillies - they’re superb !
Not sure which variety though
Cheers

Miles,
A dash of Linghams or some nibbly harissa almonds….. that’s as close as I’ll ever get to that little demon!
Hats off to anyone though, who can grow something exotic like this. With all the heat and dry weather we’ve been having, not much has grown successfully in my garden this year….. I should have gone for a drought resistant aloe crop (alas poor butternuts tis another disgraceful harvest).

Cid,
Reckon those butternuts of yours are a venture best forgotten !!
That’s close enough for you
Never mind, if at first you don’t succeed…give up!

They just look evil don’t they!
I’ve got a few Trinidad Scorpions this year and they also look like devil chillies!

These are perfect for a “long burn” on the palate. Anything more than a dash will hurt you the morning after.
