New Sections for 2010

Some new blog topics for 2010 and beyond….

I’ve decided to branch out even more on the list of blog topics that I write and photograph about. It’s a natural (literally) progression for me as it encompasses what I enjoy most; wildlife, photography and conservation. For the food lovers there will still be plenty of that ahead but as I spend between fifty and seventy hours a week working with all things food in a professional capacity I need a break from it every now and then.

Last year I introduced a section on conservation issues and as an off shoot from that I shall be adding sections on trees, plants, wild flowers and insects with a seperate section for birds and the conservation issues which affect each species. All of the posts will relate to my personal experience rather than a ‘Wikepedia’ style entry, so if I don’t write about something it’s because I haven’t seen it (other than obvious exceptions)

What struck me today as I walked along a riverbank was the amount of activity going on around me albeit on a much smaller scale and I want to document some of my findings. Bugs are a fascinating subject, especially up close and I’d like to share that bizzare world with all of you. Hopefully many of the posts will be relevent to visitors from around the world and not just the British Isles and as always I welcome any additional useful information on the subjects I cover.

I very much like the sound of this and if that stunning picture is anything to go by it should be a great success.

Best of luck with it - I think it’s a great idea

    Miles,
I like your idea of your new blog sections and admire your courage to venture into this whole new and huge world of bugs amongst other things.
It seems to me that there are a lot more diverse species around now and creatures that I had not been aware of before. Unfortunately, bugs are often mistreated through ignorance. We don’t know the functions that many of them perform and their need in the ecological system. We could not be without them.
Good luck with your photography and your researches. I look forward to them.
