New Photographic Styles
Trying to find new, fresh approaches to photography..
I think it’s really important in whatever you do to stay fresh with ideas and never stand still. Whether it’s food or photography I am constantly trying to reinvent a little bit of myself for my own sake as well as anything else. In a world were most things seem to have been done already you can only try your best I suppose.
I took this shot with a view to freshening up my bodybuilding websites, I was going for a specific look and feel and I think I’ve achieved it. I’ve had more feedback about this photo than anything I’ve ever done before and all in all I’m pretty pleased with it…

Superb shot.
Are there elements of HDR in this - in one form or another ?
Best

With all your skills, I’d have thought you could have airbrushed out any body hair.
I am totally ‘allergic’ to any sights of it !

Rod,
Indeed there are, it went through a couple of different processes which don’t suit every shot but seemed to work well in this instance.
Glad you like it.

It’s very effective, and different - not often you can say that nowadays.
A truly striking shot and one of your best, I think anyway
Cheers

Hi Miles,
Great photo, a perfect image for HDR type processing.
I love HDR when done well, unfortunately most of the time it’s over-cooked (yours is good!).
I like this guy’s stuff. Some of the photos are a bit odd but I like the gritty urban style. The use of HDR gives the right balance of making them look real and unreal at the same time.

Sam,
You’re quite right, a lot of it when verdone leaves me cold to be honest. Like this guy’s stuff though, very striking!
Many thanks.

Rod,
I’m really enjoying the ‘off camera’ shots at the moment, you can get some really interesting shots. I hate the standard weight training ones, so predictable. The one above is designed for a excercise guide hence the format. Just wanted to add a bit of a twist.

As visual primates with good color vision, we don’t often contmeplate how much color clouds our view, do we?
Pulling down all colors or only some brings out many other things that we often miss or other wise take for granted.
I do this with a lot of my travel and dev world photographs.
Your capture of the focus and attention of the two men is also fabulous.
One for the portfolio!

Laura,
That’s a good point, thank you- it’s an intense time so shooting is difficult but when you get that certain look it makes it worth it.
