New Photographic Possibilities
A temporary move away from food photography
Anyone familiar with this blog will be under no illusion as to my opinion of this particular time of year, it sucks. Work tends to take up a vast proportion of my time and combined with the shorter daylight hours and freezing weather the scope for my particular style of photography is limited to say the least.
There isn’t much in the way of new and/or different foods around and all of my menus have to be fixed for the month hence the lack of new dishes to show you. So with this in mind and a general feeling of wanting to try something new I am going to broaden my photographic horizons using my latest toy; the Canon EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS zoom lens (review to follow in due course)
This will allow me to bridge the gap between autumn and spring when the kitchen garden is hibernating and I make the most of the quiet period with time off from the kitchen to photograph different subjects. There are some great winter walks around these parts and with luck I hope to ‘bag’ a few game birds with a digital shot or two.
I am looking forward to the new year in photographic terms, I have a few projects lined up and my new kitchen garden will offer many more possibilities for both written and photographic format whilst I am hoping the hard work of last spring and summer with my camera will come to fruition in late spring.

Don’t forget your crampons this winter if you’re thinking of Snipe Dales…. there are some dodgy hills to deal with. I’ve sent word via the feathered network and the game birds will be

Cid,
Invaluable advice, thankyou! Just hope the birds will be game enough to sit still!

Cid,
If we are not careful I can see us on a permanent kitchen takeover whilst “Lord Lichfield” is out there, building hides and lying in wait for that awesome shot.

Elsie,
I suspect you are right…. in the meantime I shall prepare a large vat of bisto gravy in readiness for the battle cry
