New Jimi Hendrix Accoustic Album

Yours if you can afford it…

The late, great Jimi Hendrix recorded a demo tape of accoustic guitar playing which has recently been discovered and put up for sale. Featuring tracks off the Electric Ladyland album as well as a cover of Bob Dylan’s Tears of Rage there are fourteen tracks in total featuring nothing more than Hendrix playing an accoustic guitar with the odd bit of harmonica thrown in for good measure.

Hendrix recorded the tape in his London flat before the release of Electric Ladyland and, upon discovering he had run out of milk and sugar asked his neighbour, Carl Niekirk if he could borrow some from him. Being the obliging neighbour, Niekirk was then rewarded with the tape as a thank you gesture! Why doesn’t that happen to me?
Niekirk then did the sensible thing and gave it to his sister who left it in a wardrobe for years before giving it to the owners of London’s Cafe Music Studios for next to nothing.
Following some legal wranglings with Hendrix’s estate they have now been able to put the tape on the market.

It’s yours for around £100,000. Here’s some Jimi to remind you why you should remortgage your house in a recession for a tape cassette!!

Interesting song you chose there - commentary on the state of both of our States?

The kids heard me playing this and asked why he was so important - gotta go - the school of rock music is about to begin. I think we’ll start with “Watchtower”.
