My Staff in 2012
iPhone diary makes a works family album…
Work is obviously a huge part of my life so it would be remiss of me not to include those poor souls who have the misfortune of working for me. Starting at the top and working my way down and across I’m starting with my senior second chef, Xavier whos has been with me for the past ten years. In the years to come I know we will both look back at some of the times we’ve had and people we’ve met, hopefully with a smile but also a sense of pride and achievement.
I’ve written about him before, originally from the Auvergne in France he has long since settled in England and has become a good friend and confidante…
The Second Chef

You are always so very appreciative of your staff, Miles. As the owner of a teeny- tiny business myself, you are an example and role model to me on appreciation and respect.
Ok I can see you smile and say you have off days ,or better ask them that ……..don’t we all .
tx anyway.

Veronica,
Thank you, it is important for me to give recognition, when it’s good I say it, when it’s not..well, they know about it. I always try and treat my staff the way I would want to be treated, and how I wished I had been in some cases.

Miles,
It makes a huge difference with whom we share our working lives. So many hours are spent together that we have an inevitable affect on one another.
When we are lucky in having also a good team around us then work can be more fulfilling.
Tough times are more readily coped with.
Whilst it takes a good teamleader to achieve and manage it, there is always a responsibility and commitment for an individual to play its part.
To be appreciated by a boss or colleague(s) is very rewarding and has to be earned.
