My 1st Birthday!
Happy Birthday to me!
Hard to believe but this blog is a year old today. It started as a result of long talks with my brother who, rather conviniently happens to be a bit of a wizz at building websites and answering annoying technical questions from younger brothers. But that’s his perogative as an older brother and if he didn’t I’d tell Mother
For the last twelve months I have posted a scribble on something or other every day of every week of every month. There have been times when I didn’t think I would be able to manage a post through work commitments, holidays and general exhaustion but I was determined to post a new topic every day for the first year and I am pleased that I managed to do that. Over the last year I have built up a considerable amount of visitors which now runs into several thousand every month and I am truly flattered and humbled by the statistics.
My ambition was to try and create a community of sorts, regardless of size and I would like to think that with your help I/we have created that. My posts are read and commented on from as near as my village to towns and cities throughout the United kingdom so thanks to my ‘regulars’; Rod, Cid, Elsie, Christine, SC, Greedy Dave and the guys busy growing hot chillies-you know who you are! Venturing slightly further afield and I have welcomed guests from Germany, France and Italy. A long haul flight would be required to thank in person Karen, Dave, Annie, Hank and Melissa, my regular contributors from the US as well as the many who read but choose not to comment in America, your participation is greatly appreciated and despite the tens of thousands of food blogs out there you bother to read an Englishman’s scribblings, I thank you all.
Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and India provide regular visitors, I am fascinated by the foods of all of these countries and wish I had started my blog when I regularly travelled throughout the region because they offer a wealth of stories for any ‘foodie’.
As to the next twelve months well that will depend much on circumstance, I shall continue to post as regularly as I can but work commitments may prevent me from doing so on a daily basis. Thanks for all the support and here’s to the year ahead…
Miles

Happy Birthday !
It’s quite an achievement getting to this stage at all never mind all your other responsibilities.
This is a very successful site (average blog readership is 5 visitors a day) that owes everything to content.
Hope next year goes just as well but don’t turn it into a chore !
Many Happpy Returns

Rod,
Thanks for that, I am pleased to see I’m above the worldwide average! Just need to work on my titles to drive internet traffic. Watch out for tomorrow’s post called: “I AM BARACK OBAMA AND HILARY CLINTON’S LOVE CHILD” worth a try

Miles,
A year of hard work I’ve no doubt but what an excellent result….. fancy putting up with my comments for all that time, that deserves an extra medal
Cid
p.s. I’m way ahead and already working on my response to the ‘Love Child’ thing…..

Miles,
Congratulations on a very successful year. I think I have said before that I don’t know how you have managed all this, having such a busy job, your kitchen gardens etc. Your determination is admirable.
It is almost “a fix” to switch into your blog and read the topic of the day.
Apart from a good read, it is generous of you to share your knowledge. Thank you for that.
Whatever the next year holds, we shall enjoy sharing some of it whenever you wish or can.
