Motorhead UK Tour 2009 Set List

The track list for the Motorhead UK tour?…..

I blogged about the new Motorhead UK tour for 2009 some months ago and was talking about the concerts with a couple of fellow Motorhead fans. We all agreed that going to see them would depend a lot on the set list which has been much the same for the last three tours. One of this blog’s longest standing supporters, Dave from NYC a fellow Motorhead fan went to see them on the American leg of their world tour last week and has kindly sent me the set list from the Roseland Ballroom concert in New York City.

I doubt this will change much, if at all for the England dates so here is the full set list for the 2009 Motorhead tour:

1. Iron Fist
2. Stay Clean
3. Be My Baby
4. Rock Out
5. Metropolis
6. Over The Top
7. One Night Stand
8. I Got Mine
9. Guitar Solo
10. The Thousand Names Of God
11. Another Perfect Day
12. In The Name Of Tragedy
13. Just ‘Cos You Got The Power
14. Going To Brazil
15. Killed By Death
16. Bomber
Encore:
17. Whorehouse Blues
18. Ace Of Spades
19. Overkill

Thank God they’ve dropped Doctor Rock, thanks Dave.

Looks a good set - must be a nightmare knowing what to play when you’ve such a back catalogue.
I’d like to see them really mix it up one year with thing like Dirty Love originally the b-side to the Ace of Spades single - great track

    Rod,
Great song, what about ‘Shine’? Easily one of their best ever. I wonder how many real fans would care if they ever heard ‘Ace of Spades’ again? I know I’d much rather hear something else from Bomber like ‘DMTNT’, ‘Poison’ or ‘Stone Dead Forever’.
What about ‘I’ll be Your Sister’ or ‘Lawman’? best stop now…!!

Wise words guys, I am an old man of 45 now, and I have seen Motorhead hundreds of times since I was first blown away by the Overkill tour in 1977/1978.

The only track I am heartily sick of is Ace of Spades…as this is the words that spew out of the mouths of morons who say ‘’ Oh yeah, I’ve heard of that Motorhead….they did that Ace of Spades, ace of spades…'’

Motorhead have got me through some bad times in my life, and I can’t wait for Nov in Leeds. !!

Welcome to the site and thanks for the comment. With you on that one, I always get that too. They could change near enough anything on that set list except Stay Clean, I love that live. It never disapoints. Enjoy the gig, I will!!

    Hey Guys

I’m sick of the Ace of Spades too, but as Rod said, setlists must be a nightmare for the band.
I don’t think Ironfist is a great song to come on with, but thats just my opinion.
I thought We are Motorhead was a great track to come on with.
I’d like to hear more from Motorizer and certainly Inferno….but then again Bastards i really like.
To be honest i’ll love the Leeds show no matter what, but they could bin the current set for me….not that i don’t like the songs but i’d love to hear more obscure stuff.

  10. miles says:

    Bri,
Welcome to the site and thanks for the great comment. They could do a couple of tracks from ‘Bastards’ for me too. I always find it interesting just how diverse the age group is at the gigs, maybe they do the ’standards’ for the younger ones?
I’d be happy to hear ‘Iron Horse’ and ‘Metropolis’ again in place of ‘Killed by Death’ and ‘Iron Fist’. Can’t please everyone though!
Thanks again Bri, hope you enjoy the concert-I’m off to see Gary Moore tomorrow :)

  13. Peter says:

    Ouch !!!
I just wrote a really lengthy note to you guys about the Mighty Motorhead, but because I forgot to do the spam protection ’sum’, I think the whole lot was lost….Oh bollox.
Oh well, suffice it to say, like Bri I think We Are Motorhead is an absolute anthem, (as is Motorhead itself) …I can’t understand why we don’t hear those live anymore.

Looking forward to a day on the beer, and a night of ‘Ear bashin’…in Leeds.

However, I must say that regarding the set-list, I fear we might all be getting a bit picky.
You see I remember seeing the band in the mid eighties, when they were in a bit of a wilderness. They opened up with Ironfist at Bradford University, and that was a bit of a come-down from the bigger venues I had seen them at.
I remember fearing for their future, but I needn’t have worried…they are still going strong a quarter of a century later !!

    October 19, 2009 @ 8:29 pm

  14. miles says:

    Peter,
Sorry about that, I hate having to do it but blame the 100’s of spam comments I’d get if I didn’t.
They’ve been on a roller coaster for sure but like you say, you can’t keep them down for long. Not long now!!

  15. bri says:

    Hey Peter..
I think i saw them at Leeds Uni on the Rock and Roll tour….87/88 ?….and i gotta admit , it was one of the worst gigs i have been to ever. I like a fair bit of volume…and with Motorhead it’s expected, but this was just a wall of one tone played at mega decibels for 2 hrs…..some would say that’s Motorhead. I’d forgiven them that small blip…Sheffield last year was one of the best times i’ve seen em….i’d like to do Manchester more often..always a good sounding gig.

You know what!…..i hate to say it, but it won’t be too long before that band are no more…and every Tom Dick and Harry are gonna bang on about how great they were…how we all loved Motorhead….and yet this country…apart from the Fans,.. has hardly given them the time of day…having said that…there’s probably about 15-20 years left in em.

    Anyway Miles…Gary Moore???

    October 20, 2009 @ 10:23 pm

  16. miles says:

    Bri,
Gary Moore was spot on…very upbeat blues show and some stunning guitar work as usual. His range is something else. Sound was great, a ten minute Parisienne at the end. Good times!
Like your point about Motorhead, I saw them at the Manchester Apollo in 2005 and the sound was great but Cambridge the following year was too loud. Best I’ve heard them was in Germany on the March or Die tour with Saxon. Loud’s alright but I’d like to know what I’m listening to sometimes.
    God I’m old!!

Ha!…yeah…we’re all gettin on a bit now……i look at these new fangled ‘Mosh Circles’ at Motorhead gigs and think…..you know what lads….i’ll give it a miss tonight.

Having said that i went to see Iron Maiden at Twikenham last year…got to the front, but later felt like i’d been hit by a bus…..and the sound was terrible….but still enjoyed it…..AC/DC were pretty good at wembley stadium i thought ..although i know some people thought the sound was crap.

Anyway…just taken me 2hrs to install Adobe Illustrator….first time i’ve made an official purchase of anything Adobe…what a joke…….Bed time.

  18. miles says:

    Bri,
Good luck with the install mate! Tell you what, I’ll see you at the back of the gig, you can keep your mosh pit, it’s the furthest point from the bar (and the loo-remember our age!!!) so there!!!

    October 21, 2009 @ 11:42 pm

  19. Peter says:

    Oh Fellas,
When you put it like that, it brings it all home to me how old I am.
When at any Motorhead gig, I like to get there early, and get down to the front.
However, its only the fact that I have several-teen lagers before the gig that my arthritic knees can get me through the support band and the Motorhead show itself.
Also, being basically deaf in one ear (possibly caused by exposure to Motorhead??) means that I’m better off if they crank the volume up.
I might well be nearer the back this time, if for no other reason that my wife is coming with me !!!, she has never seen Motorhead and I will need to ignore her for me to enjoy the gig properly. (well she did volunteer to come)
3 years ago, my teenage daughter wanted to go to a gig, and she came to see Motorhead ….she had heard me banging on about them, but she preferred the support act which was ‘In Flames’.
I did the protective Father bit and tried to keep her shielded from the moshpit, but then I realised that she probably started it off and it was keeping her occupied.
Am I going mad or was there no such thing as moshpits when I was young enough to survive one?

    October 25, 2009 @ 9:37 pm

  20. miles says:

    Peter,
Good on you for getting near the front..you’re a braver man than I am! Good luck to your wife too! When I saw them in 2005 at the Apollo it was seated (not my choice-free ticket) and the girl next to me had her hood up!!
Saw ‘In Flames’ on the same tour, didn’t do much for me to be honest but then I was at the bar for most of it :)

    Not long now!

  21. richard says:

Miles, i will try and see if i can remember everything they play in order! i do have a terrible memory.

Anyway someone pointed out the age diversity? Well, i am 14 and a big motorhead fan! But i guess they keep the standards in so that people who just know ace of spades and suchlike can enjoy it too!

And us youths seem to like moshpits, not me personally, lots of people just get crushed and you can’t really enjoy motorhead while being trod on… but it does add some energy too it. As long as these people aren’t just going round shoving eachother for the sake of it.

  22. miles says:

    Rich,
Good luck remembering it! Fourteen is a great age to get into them, I was eleven!! It’s testament to the quality of the music that they get such a broad age group coming to the concerts. Enjoy the gig mate, it will be nothing if not loud :)

  23. Peter says:

    Hi again Guys,
I had no idea that I was conversing with people of such tender years !
Richard, you are 14 ?? I have socks older than that !!
I suppose I would be called a ’silver surfer’ at my age, if I wasn’t too bald to be silver.
Miles, at 45 I might even be the oldest man who ever ventured onto the Internet?
I got into Motorhead at age 14, but that was at the beginning of a mad adventure, when the band were young themselves, and they had a brand new, unique sound which blew us all away.
After all, Lemmy’s vocals on Overkill and the song Overkill itself was like nothing that had gone before. Who had ever heard of a band where the lead singer couldn’t actually ‘’sing'’?
I’m not sure I would like Motorhead today so much if I was in my teens, I would probably be into Trivium (who are brilliant) or Children of Bodum (who my daugher loves, and I appreciate a lot) Have you heard the guitar work that those guys deliver?

Hope to hear from you soon.

    October 29, 2009 @ 9:46 pm

  24. miles says:

    Peter,
Great to hear from you again, I’m counting down the days until go again. They are unique which is why they have lasted so long. I’ve been listening to them since the ‘Overkill’ and ‘Bomber’ albums and I can’t imagine ever not listening to them. Nobody does rock n roll like them, I’ll go look up Trivium, thanks for the tip.
    best wishes
    Miles

    October 29, 2009 @ 10:18 pm

  25. Peter says:

    Hi again…
My daughter roped me into seeing Trivium, as I was her means of getting to Sheffield, (and muggins here would obviously pay) I was not looking forward to it, but like all good, live, rock bands they put on a great show.
She also recommends ‘’Him'’, from Finland. I must confess that they are well worth listening to also.
Nothing can shift Motorhead, Venom and Judas Priest from my top 3 though.
Does anyone remember seeing all those smaller Heavy bands in the late 70’s early 80’s?
There were hundreds of great bands knocking around the circuit.

    November 2, 2009 @ 9:15 pm

  26. miles says:

    Peter,
I’m off to see a band called Dragonforce with my brother next month..killer guitar riffs et al.
As for the smaller bands well my favourites were Tank and Vardis. I love Tank and have managed to get a couple of their albums on cd recently. They supported Motorhead on the Iron Fist tour in 1982, can you remember them? Fast Eddie produced the first album and I believe the bass player and lead singer was in The Dammed.
    Glad you liked the gig.

    Hi Miles,
    Thanks for the update,
I saw Tank once and they were pretty beefed up and a decent band, but they never released much for me to buy.
I saw Vardis millions of times, and I loved them. I was tempted to mention them in my top three, but I feared that no one would have heard of them. I wonder what happened to them.?
Amongst the best bands I ever saw at local gigs were White Spirit (just superb), Limelight and AngelWitch. Very innovative AngelWitch, they deserved to have been bigger.

    Peter.
Started going to gigs in the early eighties…MAIDEN, AC/DC, UFO, GILLAN, WHITESNAKE, RAINBOW SAXON, MOTORHEAD….it seemed like there was one a week….funny how most of em are still going.
Remember TANK but will have to do a Youtube to refresh my memory ;-)

    Bri,
Welcome back! UFO and Gillan, there’s a couple of die hard fans on this blog for sure (right Rod?) saw Saxon in Germany with Motorhead, excellent band, saw UFO at Knebworth and they blew everyone except Deep Purple and the Scorpions off the stage. Whitesnake I saw at Nottingham about five or six years ago and they were suprisingly heavy, very impressed with them.
TANK on You Tube is mostly some rap singer, there is one track ‘Honour and Blood’ (I think) but it takes some finding.
Nice to hear from you again Bri.

    UPDATE!!!!
    Here’s one for ya!!!

    November 3, 2009 @ 11:19 pm

  33. Peter says:

    Well, well..
Now we are getting into it, aren’t we?
I just clicked onto the blog before retiring to bed, and there I find, from only minutes before, a Tank clip from Youtube?? I really wish I was technically savvie enough to do that.
If it wasn’t so late at night, I would delve into the garage to look for the Tank tracks I’m sure that I have somewhere on vinyl. I must be on vinyl because its so long since I checked them out.
I think that track was great, some subtle undertones of early Metallica in there, in the chord changes and progressions methinks.
Miles and Bri, living in Bradford in the late 70’s early 80’s meant that there WAS a gig per week. Because the St Georges Hall was always on the circuit for the big bands (a-la Whitesnake / Scorpions / Maiden) …but also the ‘’Princeville Rock Club'’, was a working mens club that had rock bands every Thursday night. This is where (for a paltry couple of quid) I could join maybe a hundred like minded people and see bands such as Vardis, Son of a Bitch (who became Saxon), White Spirit, Fist (remember them?) AngelWitch ….oh and dozens more.
They were indeed fabulous days, and I am so glad that the genre never died, has never seemed dated, and I never got rid of my record collection.
Every Saturday I went to HMW, clutching my paper-round money and asked what new records they had for sale by any new bands. In this way I was able to gather a lot of great new sounds such as Tygers of Pan Tang, Mythra etc and I had previously never heard of them.
I also copped for a load of rubbish, from bands such as Sledgehammer and Diamond Head who the NME paper raved about, but were massively disappointing.

Right, I'’ve had a lovely meal out with the Mrs, at the Shibden Mill in Halifax, and I’m soooo tired…but tomorrow I am going to drag some vinyl out of the garage and bore you all with some more obscure bands. …..and so to bed, for now.
How very old and middle class of me.

    November 4, 2009 @ 12:57 am

  34. miles says:

    Peter,
Thanks for a great comment, I envy you living so close to a great venue, those were indeed fantastic days. I loved that era of music, Tygers were a great band too. My brother and I used to buy coloured vinyl singles from an electrical appliance/record shop, gatefold sleeve albums with lyric sheets….oh, those were the days!!

  35. miles says:

    Peter/Bri
    Here’s another!….

    November 4, 2009 @ 9:30 am

  36. Peter says:

Hi again, just been rummaging through the old vinyl collection and I found that very Vardis single, (it was actually a double EP with a couple of live tracks thrown in for free)
I’m bemoaning the fact that my Kenwood turntable has decided not to play ball anymore.
My fault I suppose, not used it in years….but it means my formidable vinyl collection will be consigned to the garage foreven more years to come.
A couple of years ago I took a selection of Venom and Jethro Tull albums to a guy in Hebden Bridge who converted them to CD for a fiver each. A bit steep to convert my whole collection, and the quality was a bit muffled.
I might have to invest in a machine to do that myself, I’ve seen one on Ebay for about £120.
I think the shop that you and your brother frequented (if it was in Bradford) might have been Vallances.
It was primarily a furniture store, with electrical goods upstairs, and a helluva record collection too. Shops were so different back then.
Or it might have been ‘Woods’, which sold musical instruments, and also obscure records.
I was in ‘em all back then !

    November 4, 2009 @ 8:25 pm

  37. Peter says:

Right, its chilly in the garage so I’ve brought some musical gems into the warmth to regale you all with.
I’ve looked at all my compilation albums which I could never resist in terms of hearing some new talent for the first time, on the cheap.
I’ve laid my hands on an album called ‘New Electric Warriors’, its got offerings from UK bands such as Stormtrooper, Rhabstallion, and Silverwing, who were very good but never released much (if anything) on thier own. Vardis were the biggest name on that album so that tells you the sort of obscure level I’m at.
Then I’ve found some really great offerings by non UK bands such as ‘The Rods’ , ‘Savatage’ and if you get to see a band called ‘’Surgin'’ on Youtube ..then you will be amazed at the quality.
Last but not least I have found the track by TANK that I knew I had, (remember it was the reference to Tank that kicked off all this nostalgia. its called ‘Echoes of a distant battle’, its 5 minutes long and I can’t say it stands out in my memory.

    November 4, 2009 @ 10:52 pm

  38. miles says:

    Peter,
Well done mate, that’s a rare old find. I can’t remember those bands. I have a five cd compilation of NWOBHM bands called Metal Masters, there’s one or two dodgy tracks on there but some gems too. As for TANK, when they were good they were great, when they were ok they were distinctly average. I’m sure they’re still on the go though, they’ve got a website.
Thanks for that Peter, very interesting. I might well do some posts on forgotten bands.

    Miles

    November 4, 2009 @ 11:30 pm

  39. bri says:

Ha!…this is getting to be nostalgia corner.
Like the Tank track ( is that a gag?)
St Geroges Hall still is a great venue…pitty more bands don’t play there.
Anyone remember a programme early eighties, channel four… called something like ECT or ETC….i seem to remember TANK being on it……or was it SPIDER!….

Anyway Peter…Shibden Mill is a cracking boozer…..although ‘boozer’ dosent do it justice.

SEASICK STEVE tomorrow at the o2 in Leeds.
i do like a bit of Blues…in fact…alot. Don’t let people tell you that SS isnt the real deal…i’ve seen some of the greats….obviously most of em are dead now….but Steve is up there with em.

and don’t get me started on Rory Gallagher…i’ll be here all night

Not long till Lemmy and the Boys either.

Its great to hear all this stuff…take it easy Peter /Miles…anyone else.

How sad of me to check in at this unholy hour, just to check further comments…and there you are Miles and Bris, just as bad as I am.
I have the same Metal Masters CD’s, and quite a few other, similar compilations on CD.
Trouble is, I can’t get back to them for a while until I get to the end of the vinyl vigil.
I must admit there are some of those compilations that I never got to the end of, either family pressure or work pressure meant that I never had the time.
Just browsing through some discs by Praying Mantis, Krokus and Trespass. I can’t find a badly made track if I try tonight.
    …and so to bed.

I know i was so glad they decided to add another B side to the set list, great addition. Wish they could have added sword of glory or born to raise hell, two of my personal favorites. :) But it’s setting out to be a good night.

On the downside, I ordered a motorhead england shirt, as i just own a motorhead hoody and its bound to be hot in there! My postman put it in our wheelie bin as no one was in, and write a note on the back of one of our other pieces of post. We found this note yesterday, and realized the bins had been taken out the day before. So my brand new shirt is well on it’s way to a landfill site. :( Doubt i will be able to get another shirt in time for sunday so i will have to buy one there if they do them! bound to be a bit more costly though. :(

i’ll say it again..Ironfist is a bad song to come on with IMO…i know some people like it and Mid-set it would be ok but just wrong as an opener.
    Suprised Overkill aint in there.
Dirty Love is a bit of a suprise….would like to hear Buried Alive….but whatever…..really looking forward to Leeds.

  48. Peter says:

    Hi again Men !

Richard, I’m gutted for you about your T-shirt, My postman does this too, but never the normal wheelie bin, they are instructed to only put things in the Re-cycle bin, have you checked in there? (If you have one) Probably a really stupid question that.

I too love those 2 tracks off the ‘Bastards’ album, really great rocking album that in every respect.
I am astonished that Overkill is not on the setlist, its always been the Encore or 2nd song of the encore.
Maybe we just need to shout louder than ever to get it performed for us in Leeds?

I was in Leeds on Friday and I came accross the very excellent Xmas Market which is right near the gig venue. It is a German themed affair with lots of beer available.
I fully intend to spend the afternoon in the German beerkeller on Friday before the gig.

  49. miles says:

    Peter,
I’m sure they’ll do Overkill. Thank God Dirty Love is on there though. Let me know how you get on because you go before me, the beerkeller sounds great. I did the same thing when I saw them in Boblingen, Germany. Slightly regretted it afterwards though!!
Hope you have a great night.

  50. richard says:

Okay lots to say, first of all… BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE!

Okay the setlist i posted is pretty much the same, although they played a cover of a song which i don’t remember and they added overkill in the encore act. There was a guitar solo and a drum solo which were both amazing.

The warm up band were pretty good, they played about 4 songs and i think they said they were called the straight lines.

Next Girlschool rocked the house up, was very energetic but i didn’t know any of the songs they played! i remember one was called i spy.

The damned were hilarious! Eloise and Smash it up were the 2 best songs they played IMO and when Cpt. Sensible asked the crowd if he should do happy talk everyone was saying “NO!” So at the end of the set everyone went off and Cpt. ran back on to the mic and starting doing happy talk! :L The singer then came in and pulled him off by his collar. This was my favorite quote of the night from captin. -> “This music is very anti-simon cowell. It is a celebration of rock n roll, so unfortunately kids, jedward will not be jamming with us tonight!”

Now the main act of course, the band march on and lemmy belts out “WE ARE MOTORHEAD! AND WE PLAY ROCK N ROLL!” and kick in with iron fist which got everyone going. Moving through the set the crowd got increasingly rough in the middle where all the big teens were moshing and crowd surfing, poor bloke came over the barrier with a bleeding nose! Thats swindon for you. Now I was right at the barrier but not central so phil was right infront of me. I was rocking out and i had all my motorhead gear on so everytime he ripped a solo he would look at me and josh rocking out and he would always give us a thumbs up! After Rock Out he threw his pick to me and i got it! I’m going to treasure it forever. He really made a connection with me and my mate so that might the night 10x as special. During the first support, Mikkey Dee walked down the front with his kids and sat down with them right infront of me! I got his attention and he gave me a smile and a peace sign. Gotta love Mikkey. Dirty love was amazing, and so was in the name of tragedy.

Encore act started with whorehouse blues, which was amazing! Really got people going in the blues mood. Then Ace of Spades and Overkill to finish off a perfect night. At the end Lemmy chucked a few picks out and i got one of those too, so i have the black pick used by phil and the purple pick used by lemmy, both bearing thier signatures and the “motorhead england” logo

Merchandise wise, there were tour shirts and some bootleg shirts being sold outside for £10. Official shirts were £20.

I left that night clutching my beloved picks and my ears ringing with the final sounds of overkill. Got home at about 11:30 and went straight to bed because i had school the next day (today)

So to sum up in 2 words, “Bloody Brilliant”

  51. miles says:

    Richard,
Sounds like a great night, you’re bloody lucky to get those picks, well caught!! Sounds like a great gig, thanks for letting me know how you got on, I shall tell my Motorhead partner in crime, It’s not long until my turn!
    Thanks again.

    Richard,
thanks for sharing that much appreciated, unlike my brother I shall not be going to see Motorhead this year but your comment mentioning the opening track and also merchandise brought back memories so I took a picture of one of my t-shirts for you

    Hope you like it
    All the best

  54. richard says:

Ooh! And forgot to mention phil still had some beer left so he got the security guys to pass it round the front so i had a sip! Drinking someone famous’ beer makes you feel hardcore.

  55. Peter says:

    Hi all, and especially Richard.!
I didn’t realise you were going to see Motorhead before the rest of us, for some strange reason I thought we were all going to the same gig as me in Leeds. Silly me, it really is a world wide web.

Seeing the Tour T-shirt reminds me that the band missed Bradford (my home town) off the Ironfist tour in 82, and I was gutted. It was the first time they had not been to see me, I thought it was something I had done wrong.

Richard, thanks for taking the time to give us that account of a fantastic night.
Nothing changes, and now the band have cultivated a new younger breed of fan, by doing exactly what they have always done.

Only ‘’four mores sleeps'’ now, before my turn to see the great men, once again.

    Hey Peter…and everyone else

Just been to that German beerkeller on my way back from ‘work’…well you’ve got to havent you.

    Good review from Richard…
Just a couple of days now…i’m really glad i can still get giddy about Seeing a band year after year.

Was at the o2 the other night to see Seasick Steve. Hadn’t Been to that venue since ‘WHITE ZOMBIE’ which was 1996……Looks the same to me. Think Motorhead will sound good in there.

  58. Peter says:

    Hi all,

Bri, I think that the Leeds Beerkeller is there until 20th Dec, as is the whole Xmas German market.
I think it will be full of Motor-headbangers on Friday. Leeds is great these days.

Miles, just think, when we’ve all been and seen Motorhead, you will still have something to look forward to, and we will all be hoping that Lemmy lives long enough to come round and tour again!

All, now I’ve managed to shake off my wife being at the gig, she has finally admitted defeat and realised that she wouldn’t enjoy it. Instead I have a friend from Llandudno, N Wales coming up to take over the spare ticket….and he has loved the band since being a kid. I love the Mrs a lot, but I would have spent all night worrying that she was not enjoying it. Now, I can really let rip.

Went to see them at Nottingham on Monday (16th). The set list was as above and it rocked a fat one.

Didn’t see Girlschool, but the Damned was a great warm-up, As far as I know it was the original line-up, but with a younger drummer who held them all together superbly.

An excellent gig and all for just 25 snotters!

    Cheers

Snotters???? Rocked a Fat One???? What the…..
    Ian, speak English boy !
I now realise that life is passing me by….I really need to broaden my horizons and widen my vocabulary.
But no, I’ll do no such thing, as that might lure me away from my beloved Motorhead.

OK, its midnight, and I am only hours away from the Leeds gig. Can’t wait.

Trouble is, my wife is now (again) back in the frame to go with me.
This is because my mate in Llandudno has come up with the lame excuse that his best friend waskilled in a house fire yesterday. Its true, its on the news, but its damned inconvenient if you ask me.

Seriously though, if its not Luther Vandross or Lionel Ritchie my wife will hate it.

She’s never even seen Motorhead on the telly, she refuses to watch a video first as it will spoil the suprise !!! Uh-ho ….I can see trouble ahead…

Lemmy is no soul man, (the he does write soulful lyrics) …he is rock n roll man…

    November 20, 2009 @ 1:09 am

  63. bri says:

    PETER…

I think your wife will hate it…..theres no middle ground with this band.
Anyway..just a couple of hours away now.
My walk to work takes me right past the o2 so i saw them unloading this morning….and on my way back tonight i hoped to spot the guys hanging out round the back of the venue…but nah!…that would be too spawny.
So!…here we go again. The gigs sold out so it’s gonna be a hot one…just wondering what my attire should be for this evening…thinking of a nice shirt and tie.

    Anyway….discuss it later.

  68. Peter says:

    Hello Again all..
My apologies for not getting back in touch before now.
The Leeds gig was, as Bri says, top notch.
We didn’t get Dirty Love….but I think we got Another Perfect Day, (or was I dreaming)
I was certainly drunk, following umpteen steins of lager all day in the German market just nearby.
I was deaf and desperately hungover all next day.
Girlschool were good, but I don’t really get the Damned, though I put up with them and cheered in all the right strategic moments.
Motorhead were enormous, superb, Lemmy looked 20 years younger than his years and the whole night was a blast.
My wife (who I was forced into taking remember) actually enjoyed it and says she would go again. To be fair to her she wore all black, an old Motorhead T-shirt plus leathers…and she got suitably beered up with me all afternoon.
The Overkill encore was a crusher ….superbly delivered…and the light-show made it extra special.
I cannot wait to see them again ….I love that band so much, there is nothing like them on this Earth, and there never can be again.
Come on guys, tell me what you experienced on your gig dates.
Its great to hear about it…..if I can’t see them, at least I can hear about them …does that make me a Motor-Voyeur?

Thanks for the track list. Just seen the boys at Bournemouth last night. Mmm… loud and managed to keep out of the mosh although my daughter was in there for four hours!

Two tracks not on your list:

    Cradle to the Grave
    Shoot “Em Down

Not sure if they did Going to Brazil or The Thousand Names of God

  72. Peter says:

    Hi al,

Thats a surprise, those two tracks they played at Bournmouth I have never heard them play live.
I think thats the tour over with now isnt it? I can safely say that with what I have seen for myself on this tour, and with all the brilliant comments on this site that Motorhead are playing as well as ever. Maybe even better?
I might well get the Motorhead tattoo done that I have toyed with over the years. I have never done it because I believed that if I did, the band would pack in playing and I would be lumbered with it for the rest of my life.
However, on the evidence of this tour I needn’t worry, Lemmy and Co have at least another decade in them.
Thanks for setting this site up Miles, I’ve enjoyed this last few weeks big time.

    Hey Miles…Pete, Richard or anyone.

I think this thread may of gone a little cold but on the off chance I’m wondering if I may get a little help.

Basically to cut a long story short, at my great age of 41 ( mental age 14) I’m starting over with a new career….so I’m back in school…or University as it’s called these days.

This long academic road ahead is throwing lots of assignments at me.
One such brief I’m working on at the moment focuses on research……of which the subject is my choice.

I wanted to keep this interesting for myself so I’ve chosen the world of Motorhead to explore. I first heard Motorhead on the Friday rock show in 1983 I think it was…..the song was Capricorn which I still love to this day. It took another 3 years to see them live , that was at the Monsters of Rock Festival 1986. Freezing cold day as I recall ( well, it was the summer) but I loved Motorheads set..in fact I’ve just give it a listen from the two disc ROCK AND ROLL cd….they cut out the firework incident from the recording though…..Lemmy was a tad pissed off as I recall……so I’ve seen the band a hell of allot from then onwards, apart from a blip in the mid nineties ( deeply sorry, but I still bought the records)

    Anyways…
All I wanted to know….from anybody… is a little personal insight into how you were introduced to Motorhead.
Basic stuff like favourite record, which record did you buy first, favourite line -up, favourite gig, how old were you when you saw them…how old are you now ;-) …..and any little oddball experience you might of had relating to the band.

I’d appreciate any feedback at all…one comment alone would be of value..

    Thanks very Much.

    Oh!….

Only just found out that the band has had a falling out with the Cover artist Joe Petagno.
Joe said he won’t be donig any more artwork for the band which is a damm shame i think.

Wasn’t that mad about the Motorizer cover.

Anyway…..Happy new year to one and all….looking forward to the new Motorhead cd 2010.
