Here’s Ian’s review of the Nottingham gig….

Review of Motorhead Live at Nottingham 2009

Went to see them at Nottingham on Monday (16th). The set list was as above and it rocked a fat one.

Didn’t see Girlschool, but the Damned was a great warm-up, As far as I know it was the original line-up, but with a younger drummer who held them all together superbly.

An excellent gig and all for just 25 snotters!

Cheers

Ian

Here’s Richard’s review of Motorhead Swindon Concert 2009….

richard says:
Okay lots to say, first of all… BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE!

Okay the setlist i posted is pretty much the same, although they played a cover of a song which i don’t remember and they added overkill in the encore act. There was a guitar solo and a drum solo which were both amazing.

The warm up band were pretty good, they played about 4 songs and i think they said they were called the straight lines.

Next Girlschool rocked the house up, was very energetic but i didn’t know any of the songs they played! i remember one was called i spy.

The damned were hilarious! Eloise and Smash it up were the 2 best songs they played IMO and when Cpt. Sensible asked the crowd if he should do happy talk everyone was saying “NO!” So at the end of the set everyone went off and Cpt. ran back on to the mic and starting doing happy talk! :L The singer then came in and pulled him off by his collar. This was my favorite quote of the night from captin. -> “This music is very anti-simon cowell. It is a celebration of rock n roll, so unfortunately kids, jedward will not be jamming with us tonight!”

Now the main act of course, the band march on and lemmy belts out “WE ARE MOTORHEAD! AND WE PLAY ROCK N ROLL!” and kick in with iron fist which got everyone going. Moving through the set the crowd got increasingly rough in the middle where all the big teens were moshing and crowd surfing, poor bloke came over the barrier with a bleeding nose! Thats swindon for you. Now I was right at the barrier but not central so phil was right infront of me. I was rocking out and i had all my motorhead gear on so everytime he ripped a solo he would look at me and josh rocking out and he would always give us a thumbs up! After Rock Out he threw his pick to me and i got it! I’m going to treasure it forever. He really made a connection with me and my mate so that might the night 10x as special. During the first support, Mikkey Dee walked down the front with his kids and sat down with them right infront of me! I got his attention and he gave me a smile and a peace sign. Gotta love Mikkey. Dirty love was amazing, and so was in the name of tragedy.

Encore act started with whorehouse blues, which was amazing! Really got people going in the blues mood. Then Ace of Spades and Overkill to finish off a perfect night. At the end Lemmy chucked a few picks out and i got one of those too, so i have the black pick used by phil and the purple pick used by lemmy, both bearing thier signatures and the “motorhead england” logo

Merchandise wise, there were tour shirts and some bootleg shirts being sold outside for £10. Official shirts were £20.

I left that night clutching my beloved picks and my ears ringing with the final sounds of overkill. Got home at about 11:30 and went straight to bed because i had school the next day (today)

So to sum up in 2 words, “Bloody Brilliant”

Review of Motorhead Live at Cambridge Corn Exchange by Miles

I just caught the end of The Dammed set which was pretty good and then time for a beer before the main event. The band came on stage in their usual way and launched into Iron Fist followed by an awesome Stay Clean. It was the best I had heard them sound in a long while and for me the highlights were Just ‘Cos You Got the Power, Going to Brazil, Metropolis, Killed by Death, In the Name of Tragedy and You Got Mine.
Not sure why they had to do a Twisted Sister song halfway through but I’ll forgive them for what was the best gig I’ve seen in a long while, they’re playing better now than ever, very tight and a great set list.
A great crowd, very responsive and appreciative. Met a couple of nice blokes from The Barbarians Hells Angels Club too….the beer flowed and all was well!!
Get rid of those awful orange and lime green t-shirts though, some of the merchandising looked like a student had done it. Sort it out fellas!

Review of Motorhead Live at Leeds Concert by Peter…

Hello Again all..
My apologies for not getting back in touch before now.
The Leeds gig was, as Bri says, top notch.
We didn’t get Dirty Love….but I think we got Another Perfect Day, (or was I dreaming)
I was certainly drunk, following umpteen steins of lager all day in the German market just nearby.
I was deaf and desperately hungover all next day.
Girlschool were good, but I don’t really get the Damned, though I put up with them and cheered in all the right strategic moments.
Motorhead were enormous, superb, Lemmy looked 20 years younger than his years and the whole night was a blast.
My wife (who I was forced into taking remember) actually enjoyed it and says she would go again. To be fair to her she wore all black, an old Motorhead T-shirt plus leathers…and she got suitably beered up with me all afternoon.
The Overkill encore was a crusher ….superbly delivered…and the light-show made it extra special.
I cannot wait to see them again ….I love that band so much, there is nothing like them on this Earth, and there never can be again.
Come on guys, tell me what you experienced on your gig dates.
Its great to hear about it…..if I can’t see them, at least I can hear about them …does that make me a Motor-Voyeur?
