Legal Street Art in Lincoln

Pictures of legal street art/graffiti in Lincoln, England.

Graffiti in Lincoln is either a menace or a positive and artful way of brightening up a relatively dull area. Take your pick. whatever your take is it is a fact that councils have begun to see the merits of using graffiti artists talents to their own benefit.

Below is a walkway alongside the River Witham in Lincolnshire which leads into the city centre and the Brayford Pool area. In 2012 students from Lincoln University studying BA (Hons) in Illustration got permission from the owners of this warehouse to transform the outside of the building into a bright illustration. William Sinclair Ltd who own the building along with local residents were asked by the students for ideas for the piece and all in all I think it’s a great effort.

I shall be featuring more examples of graffiti, both legal and otherwise in Lincoln in the future. Whilst I don’t agree with illegal graffiti I cannot help but admire certain pieces for their artistic qualities, it’s just a pity they cannot do it within a legal framework such as this.

    Miles,
What an inspiring thing to do!
The building looks indeed very drab and these artistic efforts brighten it up no end.
It is a good outlet for the students, a good project and of benefit all round.
I quite agree that this should be done in a legal manner.
    Thank you for sharing.
