Led Zeppelin Write New Songs

Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones write new material…

According to Jason Bonham, son of legendary Led Zeppelin drummer the late John Bonham there have been some significant material written for a new project which could come under the Led Zeppelin umbrella.

The internet is full of rumours and non starter stories about Led Zeppelin reunions but this one has more credibility. Jason Bonham has worked with Led Zeppelin in the past including the mega one off reunion show at London’s O2 Arena and has always been seen as his father’s natural successor in the band should they ever reform. Speaking on an American radio station he revealled that he had returned to England on a couple of occasions over the summer to get together with Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones to collaborate on new material.

Bonham says that he ‘asks no questions’ when he gets a call to fly to England and get together with Page and Jones but is certain something will come out of it. Where a certain Robert Plant fits in or not as the case may be I don’t know, he is enjoying life on the road with the stunning Alison Krauss and I would be reluctant to swap her for two sixty year old blokes with grey hair :)

Whatever happens I hope they don’t hire Paul Rodgers ex Free/Bad Company and now Queen. As fine a singer as he is he is not right for Queen and I am sorry to say their new single is bloody awful. Interesting times ahead, Jimmy Page is on a roll at the moment following the incredible response to the O2 concert and more recently his appearence in front of billions of people watching the closing ceremony at the Beijing Olympics.

    They shouldn’t bother !
Leave well alone, they won’t come up with anything as good as they’ve done before.

If they still want to play let them tour the world like a glorified tribute band.

It’s always a folly to rehash old glories - leave people with the best of your song writing as a memory not something half-baked 40 years after the fact and in reality something that would never get released were it not for the Led Zep name !

    Rod,
I would have to agree with you there, I can’t see how Page or anyone else could keep coming up with great new songs after forty odd years of writing.
He’d be better off sorting a dvd and live album out from the O2 gig and leaving it at that-I am sad to say.

they should perhaps listen to what Noel Gallagher of Oasis said: (paraphrasing)

I know I’ll never write anything that’s as good as Definately Maybe and Morning Glory again.

He said that at the publicity interviews for his latest album - how honest and refreshing is that !
    Cheers

    Rod,
It is admirable but I suppose he’s only saying what we all think.

but I suppose he’s only saying what we all think.

    Indeed, but that’s the point.
Everybody that plugs and album, film or book says it’s their best yet - they know and we know it isn’t but they still say it - that’s why I was impressed with him
