Hartsholme Park in Lincoln
A Walk through Hartsholme Park in Lincoln..
Here’s a place which reminds me of times gone by, Hartsholme Park. A large reserve in the centre of my city which is home to a large lake and a network of walkways and areas for families to spend time together.
I don’t know why but it has something of a post Victorian feel to it, there are some nice old brick walls and gates and it is easy to imagine that the sick would have been encouraged to spend some time here away from the bustle of city life. I may be wrong but it gives that impression.
It is a haven for wildlife too and I am sure an early morning walk would reveal its residents, the lake is large but there are some nice viewpoints and it’s a good walk around it for the more energetic.
I took this on a very bright day which made photographing the lake difficult so here’s a shot from the top end as it tapers into the shallows.

I wonder sometimes if ( and I am not generally fanciful, quite down to earth infact ) your artistry in photography is an extension of your artistry with food. If you see what I mean. It’s difficult describing online.
How do you choose something as magnificent as this? Or is it a love of nature that prompts it.
That white pool around the black reflection and the contrasting grey and blue bordering it. I appreciate these things but I doubt I would notice these things whilst I was standing by it.
A soothing study.

Miles,
Colour and form, it’s all there…. and I think V is right, your skills have transferred to photography seamlessly. Who knows, a short course on print making and you’ll be a one man band!

Miles,
I simply love the colours and reflections. Superb.
Would like to see it sometime.

Ladies,
Many thanks indeed, always appreciated. To be honest much of what I do and where i go is with a photograph in mind, it can be quite a plus in many ways as it helps to concentrate the mind and take in more of the surroundings. It’s a lovely lake but there are some places which are better than others to photograph and it’s a question of choosing the right place and moment with the light.
