Fruits Are Showing on the Bhut Jolokia Chilli Plant

At last!

Some twenty weeks after sowing the world’s hottest chilli, the bhut jolokia I have finally got some fruit buds appearing.

Despite the less than satisfactory weather conditions for growing chillies or anything else for that matter I seem to have achieved what I set out to do; to grow the hottest chilli in the world in England. Now as I have said before I don’t expect mine to be as hot as those found in the Naga region of India or the habanero fruits of Mexico but the heat scale is less important to me, rather the achievement of growing the actual fruit.

I’ve been watching these day and night, checking the weather, the temperature, humidity, heart rate (mine) you name it, I’ve checked it. I am also keeping the jolokia plants seperate from my other chilli plants, I don’t want to cross-pollinate with a Spanish fryer, a Spanish waitress is another matter :)

So the tiny buds will continue to get a fine spray of warm water until they flower, then it’s out with a fine paint brush. More of that later, I hope!
