It is many years since I last cooked with beer when I added bread spread with mustard that helped save on the meat. I will certainly try this. I think the concept of doing traditional dishes in a 'high end' manner is a great one. Some combinations simply work a steak and ale pie being one of them. But done like this and using a proper quality beer like Batemans - well... Reserve me a table :) Great stuff Rod Miles
