Canon Release New D-SLR
The latest entry level offering…
Eighteen months ago Canon introduced the EOS 400D as its latest entry level camera. This has proved extremely popular in this particular range and last year saw the introduction of the EOS 40D as its offering for the mid range market.
To fill the gap between the entry and mid level cameras Canon have released the EOS 450D which sits firmly between the 400D and 40D. The new camera comes in at £599 for the body only compared to the 400D at £449 and the 40D at £749.
Whilst still classed as an entry level camera, Canon seem to have given the consumer a big camera for a small price. They have increased the amount of megapixels to 12.2 million, it has the latest DIGIC 111 processor, live view and shoots 3.5 frames per second. It has a 3″ screen and uses the tab menu system used on the pro-D-SLRs.
I am yet to see the camera, I will be interested to see how it performs against other cameras in its class but on face value it would seem that anyone interested in buying their first D-SLR would be better spending an extra £150 to get a camera which is closer to the 40D than it is to the 400D.

Miles,
Are you growing any early rhubarb by chance? Just wondering….

Cid,
Alas no, I love forced rhubarb, we are looking at doing a very refreshing carpaccio with it. Will keep you posted.
