An Apple a Day
How an apple tree saved a dull day
Following a frustrating morning driving through the Lincolnshire Fens looking for anything of moderate interest to photograph and getting lost somewhere near Long Sutton I ventured back to the safety of the kitchen garden.
Whatever the time of year this piece of land can always be relied on to produce something worth photographing and eating. Ramsons in the Spring, currants and gooseberries in early summer, squashes and chard in the autumn and cabbages and crunchy lettuce in the winter.
Today, as summer has one last hurrah I photographed my apple tree in the early evening sunshine. Sweet, crunchy and delicious I shall end up with a glut that will probably turn into a fine jelly to accompany my christmas goose.
Photo taken with a Canon EOS 5D and Canon EFÂ 50mm macro lens.

Your garden must have lots more sunshine than mine. That apple is positively glowing.
I feel recipes coming on …..
Talking about “An Apple a Day”, I was interested to read the other day about the value of eating apples. It seems not long ago when it was said that they had no real value in vitamin terms.

Elsie,
Surely you’re not suggesting that there are conflicting reports and studies about what is and isn’t good for us?!
