A Week in the Catering Industry
What’s Going On….
Want to know the latest news in the catering industry? No, well I did, so here it is!
1. Handbags at twenty paces… Ramsay’s two female head chefs; Angela Hartnet and Clare Smyth don’t see eye to eye. Smyth reportedly said: “I hate being compared with her because in all honesty, Angela is a one michelin star chef and I am a three star!” Meoww!
2. Price Hikes…Now it’s not only chefs moaning about food prices, front page news on the broadsheets with families (and single people, by the way) set to suffer at the checkout.
3. Ladies only..Britvic launch a new adult soft drink range aimed at women aged 25-45, Lime Grove is made with pressed lime juice and sparkling water, varieties include pink grapefruit, raspberry and ginger. Beer it is then boys!
4. Marco on the move… Marco Pierre White and business partner Frankie Dettori are taking their Italian restaurant chain to the Channel Islands.
5. De Vere Venues begin selling bottled air. Apparently city types in long meetings will benefit most from a blast of it, ’sand, selling and arab’ springs to mind.
6. Is Your boss the pits? A recent HR company survey revealed the UK have some of the worst managers in the world when it comes to staff motivation-don’t know what they’re talking about
7. Home Grown? Not yet..a colder than ususal English springtime has meant more salads and vegetables are being imported from Europe to make up for our late crops. What do you think will happen when they do crop? yes, the price will go up.
That’s the news, and now, the weather!!
