A Lincolnshire Sunset
Home again…
Today saw your host make a welcome return to his home in the Lincolnshire countryside after a week of cooking in the Lake District where the weather proved conducive to staying in a warm kitchen all day
For me a great way to unwind after a busy week is to visit my favourite walks, I didn’t stray too far, it was the coldest day in months and I didn’t have the energy for a long walk. I settled instead for photographing some wild fowl at Fiskerton Fen and Barn Owls at Nocton Fen (more of which later) The fields around Nocton Fen and Wasps Nest looked beautiful in the fading light and it is such a great place to see Barn Owls and Kestrels hovering above, searching for their prey.
The dykes which thread their way across the land are home to an abundance of wildlife, it’s so quiet around here it is a privelege to be able to share their land with them. The waterways provide food and shelter for the animals and wonderful landscapes for humans…

Time waits for no camera and as I stood and admired the setting sun, adjusting my camera settings to Landscape mode an owl flew right over my head-typical! This is how the quite beautiful and wonderfully named Wasps Nest looks in the late afternoon on a chilly October day….

Miles,
There must be lots of human history soaking in those fens and you have captured the mood beautifully.

Miles,
It is good for the soul to have places to be at peace with oneself and the nature around. Enjoy…
